CubeBuilders Arising (Part 3 - Falling Slowly)

Fire raged on through the village. The groans and screeches of the midnight monsters filled the air. The slashing of swords and striking of arrows were rapidly, and desperately trying to overcome the terrors of the night. Screams and cries of the once humble and care-free villagers now called desperately for help through the thick infernos of chaos. No one would come to save them; and they knew it. But yet, they still called for help, in hopes that someone would answer their call.

The village leader ran into the fray and slashed zombies from their standing place. He wasnt going to give up on his village just yet. He may have been knew to these sorts, but he wasnt ready to give into the difficult life of Factionaria. He was raised to take the place of his parents in this land, as the leader of his beloved Faction, Rubystone (Not the true name, so I made one up ^^). It was his fate to keep this faction alive. No way in nether was he going to die yet.

"People! Stand strong! Theyre coming from the sides! Keep your guard!" He called to his faithful villagers. They all responded in the slaying of the night monsters. He grinned at their newfound strength against the monsters, his golden cape flowing in the smokey breeze of the night. He pulled on his helmet, its black and red pattern hiding his features, and protecting them as well. He was their leader. He was going to prosper.

~*~

. . . Well, so much for prospering. As it turns, he was cornered soon after he jumped into the fray once again. Cornered with the remaining villagers, that is. He was now surrounded by the night monsters, awaiting his bloody fate. All that strength and determination had drained away; especially since theyve all lost their weapons. All they could do now was sit there and die.

But in the distance of the flames, something came into view. More smoke was arising, but it looked more white-ish. The fire was being put out! But by what?! Who, or what, was putting out the inferno? The leader kicked the night creatures away a bit farther, but it was no use. They had them trapped. A woman held her friend dear, crying softly. Even if someone had came, it was too late. Too late. He cringed. So much for prospering.

But, just when the leader expected a bloody death the next second; there was nothing. He opened his eyes, letting go of the hand of a scared child. The last of the night creatures were being slain by a figure in a suit of diamond. The last of the night creatures fell at the feet of the villagers, including its now terrified leader. Strange, it was. It was one of the few times hes ever been terrified. Well, there was a reason to be, at least. He had just BARELY escaped death to the hands of a stranger. But what was worse, now that the stranger had seen them, the stranger just might kill them. That was how it was in this world. It was kill or be killed. Simple as that.

But the stranger didnt kill them immediately. It just stared down at them. The strangers diamond blade was now drenched in the blood of the night creatures, a mix of red and green. It started to come forward. He scooted back with the others, although trapped against a wall of stone. Great, they were dead now.

The stranger stopped at the leaders feet. He cringed, waiting to embrace his death. But instead, the figure in diamond armor sheathed its sword. Huh? It stood firm now, then presumed to take of its helmet. The leader and the others gasped. The stranger was a girl, with hair as if made by a rainbow itself. Her eyes were like jewels, a mix of pink and violet, shimmering in the light of the now diminishing flames. She looked down at him and smiled, holding out her hand to him, as a gesture to help him up.

He hesitated, but took her hand anyway. The diamond-suited girl pulled him up, now face-to-face with him. He pulled off his helmet in turn, revealing his messy brown hair and cocoa-brown eyes. He was stunned. Who was this girl, and why did she save him and his people?

"...Who... Who are you?" He asked, stuttering with his words. The girl smiled, and shook his hand, as the sky cleared of the smoke to reveal sunrise.

"My name is Sparkles. And you are?"

"... Waflkone."

"Waflkone?" Sparkles thought in annoyance. So is it a waffle or is it a cone? What a silly name! Sparkles thought.

"What.... a... nice name" Sparkles cringed a smile.
